We built these tools to make a few everyday parts of practice a little easier: keeping an even rhythm when you breathe, sitting for a set time without watching the clock, knowing when the next moon day falls, choosing a class to try, and working out what a retreat will really cost. Each tool has its own page that explains how to use it, what it is based on and when to be careful.

Tools for your practice

Breathing pacer

The breathing pacer is a circle that grows as you breathe in and shrinks as you breathe out, with written cues and a countdown. Choose box breathing, a longer exhale, slow “coherent” breathing at about five and a half breaths a minute, 4-7-8 breathing, or your own counts. A text-only mode replaces the animation if motion bothers you. To learn the techniques first, start with our guides to yoga breathing, box breathing and diaphragmatic breathing.

Meditation timer

The meditation timer counts down in large, easy-to-read numbers and rings a gentle bell at the start, at intervals you choose and at the end. The bell is made by your browser, so there are no sound files to load. Pair it with our guides on how to meditate and mindfulness meditation.

Ashtanga moon days

The moon-day calendar lists every new and full moon for the next 12 months in your own time zone, with the next one shown at the top. Many Ashtanga students take these days off from practice, a custom that comes from the Mysore school of K. Pattabhi Jois.

Tools for choosing and planning

Yoga style finder

Not sure where to begin? The yoga style finder asks seven short questions about pace, intensity, heat, what you want from practice and anything your body needs to work around, then suggests styles to try, from hatha and yin to vinyasa and aerial yoga. Each suggestion comes with a one-line reason and a link to the full guide.

Retreat budget planner

The retreat budget planner adds up the retreat itself, flights, transfers, insurance, extras and tips, and shows the total, the real cost per night and a simple breakdown. Use it alongside our guides to yoga retreat costs and how to choose a yoga retreat.

How these tools handle your data

Every calculation happens in your browser. The tools do not set cookies, do not store your answers and do not send what you type anywhere. Close the page and it is gone.

Frequently asked questions

Are these yoga tools really free?

Yes. All of them are free to use with no account, no download and no sign-up. They run in your web browser on a phone, tablet or computer.

Do the tools save or share my information?

No. The calculations happen on your own device. The tools set no cookies, store nothing and send nothing you type to us or anyone else.

Do the tools work offline?

Once the page has loaded, each tool keeps working even if your connection drops, because everything runs in the page. Reloading the page needs a connection.

Can I use the breathing pacer if I have a health condition?

Choose the patterns without breath holds, breathe gently and check with your doctor first if you are pregnant or have a heart, blood pressure or lung condition, or a history of panic attacks. The tool is not a medical device.
