A planning estimate only. Retreat prices vary with season, room type and what is included (meals, classes, transfers, taxes), so read the inclusions before you book.

How to use the retreat budget planner

    1. Pick a currency and enter every amount in it. If the retreat is priced in euros and your flights in dollars, convert one of them first; TravelerCenter’s free currency converter can help.
    2. Enter the nights and the retreat price per night, per person. If the retreat quotes one package price, divide it by the number of nights.
    3. Add flights and transfers. Include airport pickups, taxis, ferries or the bus to a remote retreat center.
    4. Add insurance and extras: massages, excursions, meals that are not included, a visa or entry fee, and some spending money.
    5. Set tips as a percentage of the retreat price, if tipping staff is customary there.

The totals update as you type. “Per night, everything included” divides the whole trip by the number of nights, which is the fairest way to compare a cheap retreat that is far away with a pricier one close to home.

What to check before you trust the number

Retreat prices are hard to compare because they include different things. Read the inclusions carefully and add anything missing as an extra:

    • Room type. Prices are usually per person; a shared room is cheaper than a private one, and a single supplement can add a lot.
    • Meals. Some retreats include three meals a day, others only breakfast.
    • Classes. Check how many yoga or meditation sessions a day are included and whether workshops cost extra.
    • Transfers and excursions. Airport pickups and day trips may be included, optional or not offered.
    • Taxes, fees and deposits. Look for local taxes, service charges and the cancellation and refund terms.

Prices also change with the season, the teacher and how early you book. Our guide to yoga retreat costs explains what drives prices, and how to choose a yoga retreat covers the questions to ask before you pay a deposit.

Tips, insurance and other easy-to-forget costs

Tipping customs vary a lot by country and by retreat; some include a service charge, others leave a staff tip jar at the end of the week. TravelerCenter’s tipping guide by country gives local norms, and the retreat itself can tell you what is usual. Travel insurance prices depend on your age, trip length and cover; check that it includes medical care abroad and cancellation if you are paying a large deposit. For the rest of the trip, TravelerCenter’s packing list helps you avoid buying forgotten things on arrival, and our trip planning page brings flights, stays and insurance together.

Find a retreat that fits your budget

This planner gives an estimate for planning only. It does not convert currencies or quote real prices; always confirm costs with the retreat, airline and insurer.

    Frequently asked questions

How much should I budget for a yoga retreat?

It depends on the destination, length, room type and what is included, and on the cost of getting there. Enter the retreat price and your travel costs in the planner to see your own total and cost per night; our guide to yoga retreat costs explains what drives prices.

    Does the planner convert currencies?

No. Pick one currency and enter every amount in it. If some costs are in another currency, convert them first, for example with TravelerCenter's free currency converter.

    How are tips calculated?

Tips are a percentage of the retreat price (nights times the nightly price). Customs vary by country and retreat, so ask the organizer what is usual, or leave the field empty if a service charge is included.

What does "per night, everything included" mean?

It is your whole estimated trip cost divided by the number of nights. It makes it easier to compare retreats with different travel costs, such as a nearby retreat against a cheaper one far away.
